Abstract

Muon spin spectroscopy (µSR) utilizes positive muon beams, generated using particle accelerators. This method enables non-destructive, depth-dependent analyses of both dynamic particles and spectroscopic properties, by tuning the energy of the muon beam. The current focus is to take advantage of this novel technique to assess the extent of corrosion in materials intended for use in used fuel containers. This paper presents a brief background of theory, relevant literature, and method development, accompanied by preliminary results on cuprous oxide powder.
