Main Article Content
Abstract
As new nuclear initiatives and technologies emerge, the scope for nuclear education and training is widening. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly important for the nuclear community to reach out in two-way communication and learning, with communities and society at large. In parallel, education delivery technology and methodology are also evolving significantly. UNENE (the University Network of Excellence In Nuclear Engineering) and its members in the industrial and academic sector are developing and adapting programs and initiatives to respond to these changes. This paper describes some notable initiatives being explored in the UNENE community and beyond, that will bring greater benefits in nuclear education and training programs:
- Gaining from nuclear education experience, working with practitioners and networks around the world
- Exploring options for a range of course delivery including on-line learning and experiential learning
- Bringing nuclear technology and social science experience together
- Local education delivery to the student and to the job site
- Broader university outreach to schools, communities
- Reflecting priorities for equity, diversity and inclusion in nuclear education
The UNENE partnership and contribute to bring industry and academia together to create benefits from these and related initiatives, ready to build our capabilities for the future.
