Abstract

Radiological contamination is one of the most significant factors of food pollution and is harmful to human as well as living being if the activity strengths are high enough and having the long half-life. Considering the beginning, radionuclides those have the short half-life, became stable. These radionuclides may be dispersed by air and radionuclide can be mobilized by water and soil. So that different agro based food can be contaminated by radionuclides mobilization. The presence of radiological contaminants in foodstuffs which may affect human health causing mild to severe illnesses like different types of cancer. The present study is to assess the radionuclide contamination in powder milk of different brand those are produced locally or globally. The experimental procedure has been performed using ‘Gamma Spectroscopy’ data acquisition Setup. The spectrum data shows, 40K, 140La, 212Pb, 212Bi, 214Bi, 208TI, 228Ac are almost available in every sample. The activity concentration has been compared to the reference value provided by WHO/FAO. Study on foodstuff contamination should be continued to avoid health risks.
