Progress on an SMR at Darlington

Abstract

OPG provides an update on progress for a Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington New Nuclear Project, including an outline of the Site Preparation Licence renewal, and the collaborative work ongoing in Canada on SMRs. A brief review is provided of the process to identify the SMR technology developers OPG is working with. This is followed by an overview of the work being undertaken in 2021 on engineering, project management and licensing, to prepare for a formal decision to proceed to a Project and a Construction Licence application in 2022.
