The Component Operational Experience, Degradation, and Ageing Programme (CODAP) Project; Canadian Contribution to the Codap and Application to CANDU Nuclear Power Plants
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Component Operational Experience, Degradation & Ageing Programme (CODAP) is an international operational experience (OPEX) sharing project by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA). The CODAP project exchanges data on passive metallic component degradation and failure through a database with nearly 4900 entries to date. One concern for the CANDU industry is that their reactor designs are very different from light water reactors. However, it was found that international data in the CODAP database is applicable to CANDU primary heat transport and balance-of-plant systems. For this reason, international collaboration and exchange of OPEX is quite beneficial for the CANDU industry and contributes to global nuclear safety.
