Non-stereoscopic Piv Measurement Sensitivity to Experimental Parameters
Main Article Content
Abstract
Errors were induced to the degrees of freedom of a non-stereoscopic particle image velocimetry (PIV) setup for both the camera and laser sheet to investigate the sensitivity of PIV measurements of a round free jet to laser and camera position and orientation. It is found that small lateral translations and induced angles of the laser sheet relative to the test section cause the reported measurements of the centreline jet decay to fall out of agreement with the known decay of a round free jet. It is also found that the orientation of the camera requires large errors to be applied in order for experimentally significant effects to be observed.
