Very High Temperature Reactor Paper

Abstract

The development of the Generation IV International Forum (GIF) was established to conduct the research and examination required for the formation of the fourth generation nuclear energy systems. The next generation of innovative nuclear reactor designs comprise of six different forms of reactors, including the very high temperature reactor (VHTR). This reactor is anticipated to provide a large variety of benefits including power efficiency, cost efficient, and safety regulations. The paper describes the working mechanisms of the VHTR, its cost compared to the Gas turbine modular helium reactor, and its effect on the environment.
