Abstract

Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are a type of nuclear reactors that are smaller in both size and power output compared to conventional reactors. Conventional nuclear reactors have numerous limitations that restrict them from being built in remote locations. The modular design of SMRs allows for a customizable energy output by adjusting the number of modules suitable for the location's energy needs, making them ideal for remote off-grid applications. This paper will focus on the NuScale Power Module™ (NuScale), its advantages, disadvantages, and diverse Canadian applications.
