Abstract

Ion-exchange resins are used universally in all nuclear plants to improve and maintain the purity of water used in their operations. The decision matrix proposed in this work will account for key criteria important to decision making and compare the impacts of possible options at each process level of the waste cycle of resin. The preliminary matrix proposed will allow a platform for comparison of the different waste treatment solutions and their downstream impacts on disposal requirements for spent resin.
