Abstract

Accelerator facilities in Japan allied for production of short-lived radioisotopes in April 2016 and have cooperated in stable supply of the radioisotopes and support of the technical treatment of them. We have been supplying radioisotopes to the researchers who need ones with life-times approximately less than 100 days which are not easily accessible in Japan. During 3 years of operation, we have supplied the radioisotopes to more than 60 programs of experiments in molecular imaging, development of medicines for radiology, environmental radiation monitoring, and so on. As a new progress, Research Center for Nuclear Physics, Osaka University (RCNP) formed an alliance with TRIUMF and opened an office in TRIUMF from Nov. 2018. TRIUMF and RCNP will cooperate in the production and supply of radioisotopes. Our attempt and prospect in the promotion of production and usage of radioisotopes in Japan will be introduced in this report.
