Abstract

Currently not all running generating sets in existing plants could be replaced as not all load ranges are applicable. For nuclear plants with a small requested load to be supplied in case of seismic events or accidents a new solution is implemented. It is a stand-alone generating set as like for like replacement for former generating sets in existing NPPs with power output up to 2000 KW. The standardized storage tank is part of the concept. The paper will give an overview on the present development and capabilities of the small diesel solution. Aim is to have a reliable solution based on already proven technology with references over the last decades. It is able to cover a wide range of power output, combined with the possibility of an easy implementation in the plant. The first potential application in CANDU is at the Cernavodă NPP in Romania
