Embalse Full Scope Simulator: Supporting Operator Training and Plant Life Extension

Abstract

This paper presents the simulation technologies used in delivering the most advanced full scope CANDU power plant simulator by L3 MAPPS and the subsequent simulator upgrade for plant refurbishment ahead of plant design completion and implementation. Consequently, this paper discusses the planning required for commissioning the upgraded simulator designs and its benefits for future plant operations along with the challenges encountered.
