Abstract

This paper introduces a diverse actuation system (DAS) design for a small modular reactor in china. The design provides a diverse backup to the reactor protection system. This backup is included to support the aggressive plant risk goals by reducing the probability of a severe accident, which potentially results from the unlikely coincidence of postulated transients and postulated common-mode failure in the protection and control systems.
