Acoustic Source Due to Pipe Leakage
Main Article Content
Abstract
Leakage in a pipe is modelled by presence of one small hole on pipe wall. The hole sets up a localized asymmetric pressure difference which will then alter the steady state velocity of the fluid flowing inside the pipe. Average Reynolds stress formulation is used to estimate the quadrupole acoustic source due to leakage. The sound signature along the length of pipe is captured by developing Green’s function for the 3-D cylindrical geometry of the pipe. This research can be used for monitoring and detection of leakage in a pipeline.
