Periodic Safety Review(PSR) Structure and Methodology of Wolsong Nuclear Power Plants

Abstract

Periodic Safety Review (PSR) is a comprehensive and documented review that can achieve an overall improvement in plant safety. Since the year 2000, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power has been adapting and conducting PSRs for its commercial nuclear power plants. Among them, four units at Wolsong Sites #1 and #2 are CANDU reactors. The PSR structure and methodology has been modified since the first PSR started in Korea and there are differences in conducting PSRs for light water reactors and heavy water reactors. In this paper, the PSR structure and methodology used for the Wolsong NPP are discussed and some improvements are suggested.
