Westinghouse Reactor Technologies: Addressing Canada’s Wide Spectrum of Energy Demands

Abstract

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC is a comprehensive supplier of global nuclear products and services. As such, we are developing multiple new modular plant products, including SMR and vSMR technologies, capable of addressing Canada’s wide spectrum of energy demands. Westinghouse recognizes nuclear power is capable of providing clean, reliable, sustainable and affordable energy to a diverse array of markets including off-grid, micro-grid, base load for national grids, district heat, and industrial applications such as chemical processing and mining. Our position is that one nuclear technology cannot serve all of these energy demands, today or in the future, without making unacceptable compromises. Therefore, we are developing three unique technologies, each with their specific mission, and when combined, the potential to benefit the people of Canada, whether they live in remote northern villages or large metropolitan areas.
