Abstract

Understanding and predicting the transient behaviour of reactor systems is of great importance in nuclear reactor safety. Historically, the simulation of such transient behaviour has been limited due to the available reactor physics codes and computational limits. Recent advancements within the Geant4 toolkit have made full-scale reactor transient simulations practical. The development of a Geant4 simulation capable of performing reactor transients is currently underway at the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) in support of modern 3D kinetic analyses. Preliminary results will be presented.
